How to buy a Horse Off the Track and other Info:
These horses are for private sale, not for adoption.
Adoption policies, fees and contracts do not
apply to horses advertised
on the Track Listing pages.
These horses are owned by their Race owners, not Friends
of Ferdinand.
Friends of Ferdinand volunteers visit the backside of
Hoosier Park and Indiana Downs every weekend during the
race season. Horses whose racing careers are ending or
had a lackluster beginning are offered here for sale.
Information given in these ads is information given to
FFI volunteers by the owner, trainer, or agent.
Friends of Ferdinand is not responsible for
misinformation or inaccurate descriptions. Buyer
Beware.
Heights are an estimate. These horses have not been
sticked.
If interested in seeing a horse, please call the
owner/trainer/agent directly to make an appointment.
Their name and phone number is given in the text of the
ad.
Please do not call unless you are a serious buyer.
Trainers are very busy people, and non-serious inquiries
are considered a waste of their time and make them not
want to list future horses with FFI.
You cannot ride a horse if it is still at the track.
You can ask to have it jogged in-hand, you can make your
appointment at a time that you can watch it race, or
exercised.
You cannot bring a vet onto the backside of the track
that is not licensed with the Racing Commission. If you
would like a vet check,
we can give you the contact information for vets that
routinely work at the track.

Da Lady
4 year-old filly
Asking $1000
Lady is a nice filly that would make a nice
prospect with some time off and a nice addition
to your breeding program. She does have a
slight swelling on the outside edge, just above
her right knee. Lady's trainer says she's
going sound.
For more information, call George at
513-378-2440.
Powered by JP
5 year-old gelding
Asking $2500
JP is a 5 year-old
gelding that stands about 15 hands tall.
He's a cute little guy, with a thick, stocky
build. JP's trainer says that he is very
sound, has no vices and is a nice horse to be
around. In fact, he was held for his
puicture by the trainer's son.
For more information, please call George at
513-378-2440.
Page's Buddy
6 year-old gelding
Asking $1000
Page is a 16 hand tall
gelding that is ready to retire from racing and
would make a very nice riding horse. The
owner states that he does have osselets, but
they are set and he is going sound. No
vices, trailers well and stands for the farrier
and vet.
For more information, call Lesalene at
317-430-1935.
Native
Blanket
6 year-old Gelding
15.1-15.2 hands tall
Asking $2000 Negotiable
Added 9/08
Native is a nice horse whose
owner wants to see him into a good home. His owner
states that this horse has done everything and is
very sane and very quiet once he is away from the
track. Back on the farm, native has been on the
trails, in the woods, in the river. He is
stated to be sound, with no vices. Please call
Paul at 616-835-6274.
Schmoopy Hang On
7 year-old gelding
Asking $1000
This 7 year old grey
gelding is as sweet and quiet as his name. He was
this owner/trainers first racing baby and as a
result has been spoiled to the max and loves it! Due
to his status as "owner's favorite" he has been kept
despite a dismal racing record...just too slow. He
is believed sound for any discipline but it is time
for him to find his "forever home" and a new owner
that likes to dote on their equines. He has lovely
conformation, stood quietly at 16+h for his photos,
and has no vices. He would make a wonderful
retraining prospect for anyone looking for their
first thoroughbred project and he is sure to get
noticed in the show ring. He is currently located at
Hoosier Park but his owner would like to find him a
home by the end of the meet in November. If
interested in seeing Schmoopy, please call Tianna at
260-227-0031.
